What We Do

Outreach

Outreach

Outreach is an important part of our work at Hackney Playbus. We conduct door-to-door outreach and collaborate with a range of partners to make sure that our services are reaching those who will benefit the most from the opportunity to play, socialise and connect with their community.

Signposting

A key part of our work at Hackney Playbus is to connect families with children under five to support services.

We do this by:

We do this by:

  • providing leaflets about a range of family support services, including information about local children’s centres or national schemes such as the free early education entitlement for two year olds
  • encouraging parents and carers to share their experiences with one another about services they have found useful in their personal experience
  • signposting or referring families to other services when necessary
  • inviting health professionals to visit our play sessions to raise awareness of their service, e.g. Health Visitors, Speech and Language Therapy Service
Supporting Parents

Supporting Parents

Hackney Playbus creates a welcoming and relaxed environment where parents and carers can share their knowledge and experiences with one another. Together we learn about making the most of everyday activities to support children’s early learning and development. Our sessions are also full of play ideas that are easy and affordable to do at home!

If a parent needs more support, we can help them access the service that is right for them.

“I think that in a big city like London it’s easy for mothers with young children to feel isolated. Thanks to the Playbus I had a chance to get out of the house and engage my children in activities that were both fun and constructive. At the Playbus I met a lot of parents in a situation similar to mine. In particular I became good friend with two of them: we meet regularly for play dates but also we help and support each other if there is the need. Playbus has been really a significant experience for me, in fact I don’t know what I would have done without!” – Parent

Community Connections

Community Connections

Our play sessions are a chance to play and learn together, creating meaningful opportunities for positive relationships to develop between people from different backgrounds and living in different circumstances. Together we celebrate our diversity and work to build a sense of belonging for all communities.
