Early Years Community Worker

Salary: £16.13/hr

Contract: 32hrs/wk

Place of work: Based at offices in Hackney Wick, this role also involves working in community spaces across Hackney

Days of work: Must be available to work Mon-Thurs between the hours of 8.30am-4.30pm; availability on Friday mornings desirable

Closing date: 9th September 2024

Hackney Playbus is recruiting an Early Years Community Worker to join our caring, creative and resourceful early years team, with additional responsibility for organising our staff rotas and keeping our resources in order.

We value the positive impact of difference within our organisation and want our team to reflect the diverse cultures, ethnicities, languages and experiences of the families who participate in our activities. We particularly encourage applications from people from Global majority backgrounds, those who speak a language spoken by local communities in Hackney, and those with lived experience of bringing up children in challenging circumstances.

We’re looking for someone who can be active both on sessions and behind the scenes, helping to keep our programme running smoothly by organising our staff rotas and keeping our resources topped up and in good order. We work collectively as far as possible to share decision-making as well as the workload at Hackney Playbus, supporting each other to develop and grow. As such, this role entails covering sessions for other members of the team from time to time, to enable every team member to contribute to Hackney Playbus in other ways, such as attending meetings, doing outreach, or developing projects.

If you are experienced in working with babies and children aged 0-4 years old and their families, understand the importance of play in children’s early learning and development and are passionate about supporting families from a wide range of backgrounds to access support services, then you could be the person we are looking for!

Hackney Playbus is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and families and expect all members of our team to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to apply for an enhanced Criminal Records Check via DBS.
